MANAGER Mark Yates praised the character of goal scorer Justin Richards after Saturday's 1-0 win over Rushden and Diamonds at Nene Park.
Richards did not let missing a hatful of chances effect his confidence when he scored from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute.
The goal set Harriers towards their first Blue Square Premier double of the season.
"It shows the character that Justin has. He missed a couple of chances that he would have backed himself to put away but scored the penalty," commented the manager.
"He's full of confidence and even though I didn't see the penalty I was told by Neil [Howarth] that he slotted it in well."
Victory allowed Harriers to move up to fourth place in the league (read report) .
Three points were earned after a solid second half performance which kept at Rushden and Diamonds at bay.
Yates said: "We knew we had to put our heads in the way.
"Garry Hill's trying to get something going and instilled discipline and a siege mentality in them.
"After ten minutes I thought we played some good football and were unlucky not to be out of sight by half-time.
"We need to be a bit more ruthless but I thought we deserved to win."
