Harriers manager Steve Burr was pleased to see his Harriers side come through their tricky FA Trophy clash at Worcester City on Monday night.

Captain Chris McPhee's strike settled a tense Worcestershire derby at St George's Lane and ensure Harriers go to Oxford United in the quarter-finals later in the month.

Before taking the lead in the second half Harriers, watched by a large travelling army of fans, had to survive several worrying moments before their extra quality took hold.

"It's a cup tie and the first local derby for a good while, it's important just to get a win and I'm glad we got through," commented Burr.

"It was a great ball in from John Finnigan for our goal and then I thought we should have wrapped up the game.

"Just after that we should have wrapped up the tie, we had some really good chances to give us a cushion.

"Obviously, they threw men forward late on but didn't cause us too many problems.

"I was really pleased with the attitude of the players because it had to be spot on before the game."

The game had been rearranged after it had been called off Saturday because of a frozen pitch but Harriers' manager felt that the surface on the one side was still particularly hard to play on.

He said: "I'm not so sure how much better the pitch was tonight than on Saturday to be honest so fair play to the lads for getting through the tie.

"There were times especially in the first half when people couldn't stand up, obviously as the game wore in it did seem to be quite dangerous."

After the game Worcester's caretaker boss Carl Heeley just about felt Harriers edged an intriguing derby, which had been the biggest game between the two sides in 25 years.

He said: "I thought in all honesty that Kidderminster were the better side in the second half.

"We had our chances and on another day with a stroke of luck we could have been 2-0 up but it wasn't to be. The boys have done themselves proud."
