Burr takes positives from stalemate

Harriers manager Steve Burr was left lamenting his side's poor luck in front of goal after Saturday's Blue Square Premier stalemate at Eastbourne Borough.

The Aggborough outfit hit the woodwork three times and had a shot cleared off the line as they failed to find the back of the net.

However, Harriers struggled to find their top gear against an Eastbourne side determined to avoid a repeat of their 6-0 loss to Stevenage.

He said: "I felt we did enough to win the game, we hit the woodwork three times and obviously they had a few as well.

"I thought in the second half we did enough to win.

"I said to the lads before the game that we've got to go out there and do well, they'll be fired up after losing heavily like they did.

"It's a tough place to come, I know they lost but the conditions didn't help us."

Despite failing to score, one postive was on-loan Scunthorpe striker Adam Boyes, who hit the bar and drew a save from Borough keeper Danny Knowles.

"Adam was excellent, particularly in the first half, I thought the lad was excellent," added Burr.

"He tired in the second and that's why we brought him off.

"I thought he did well, he's not played a lot of football over the last few months.

"It was important that the lads didn't get too frustrated because it was one of those games where we had to try and win the game as ugly as we could. Unfortunately, we didn't get that goal.

"It was just one of those games today where the ball didn't fall for us but if you can't win them make sure you don't lose."

Now Harriers will can concentrate on their FA Trophy semi-final first leg at Aggborough on Saturday.

Burr said: "You want to be involved in these game games and we'll be fired up for it."
