MANAGER Steve Burr admits he’s going to have to wheel and deal if he’s going to bring new faces into his Kidderminster Harriers squad.

With money tight at the cash-strapped Aggborough outfit, the management team have been told they will have to loan players out before they can bring new ones in.

As a result, centreback Ollie Thorne was set to start a one-month loan at Harriers’ Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Rushden and Diamonds today.

Burr is set to talk with chairman Mark Serrell on whether he can use the cash freed up to bolster his playing options.

The manager would like to bring in a winger or an attack-minded midfielder.

“Ollie did really well when he first came in but he’s not getting in the team at the moment,” said Burr.

"Getting him off the wage bill will also free up some money, so I will be talking to Mark Serrell and Dave Reynolds to see if we can use it.”

Rookie striker Jamille Matt, who joined the club from Sutton on November, has signed a deal until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Harriers have already had to fend off interest in their players, with nine-goal top scorer Chris McPhee turning down a move to Conference Premier title-chasers Crawley Town in December.

Harriers, who beat Forest Green Rovers 1-0 and drew 2-2 with Tamworth over the weekend, go to strugglers Gateshead in the league on Saturday (3pm kick-off) and have Kettering at home on Tuesday (7.45pm kick-off).

Mark Albrighton will miss both games as he serves a two-match ban for his second dismissal of the season at Tamworth on Monday.
