STRIKER Jamille Matt has had to reset his goal target after surpassing his own pre-season expectations.

The 21-year-old made it seven goals in as many games when he grabbed the 90th minute leveller on New Year’s Day as Harriers drew 1-1 at Forest Green Rovers.

That put the red-hot hitman on 11 for the season, which means he’s already reached his goal of double figures with plenty of time left to score more.

“Before the season I set a target of double figures and I have reached that quicker than I thought I would, so whatever I score from now on I will take,” commented the striker.

His goal ensured Harriers made it 10 games unbeaten in all competitions and helped the club avoided the curse of the monthly awards.

The Aggborough outfit was the big winner in December, with Steve Burr named man of the month and Matt player of the month after an exceptional run of performances and results.

Matt added: “The award came as a bit of a shock to be fair and I think it’s down to the hard work of all and lads.

“We’re on an unbeaten run and it shows with the gaffer getting his award as well.

“We knew Forest Green were a tough team to play against and break down but in the last 20 minutes we were camped in their half and got a goal in the end.”

The in-form striker has also generated a host of interest from Football League clubs such as Northampton Town, despite only being in his first full season as a professional footballer.

However, despite the speculation regarding his future, Matt is aiming to concentrate on the reason why he’s caught the eye - scoring goals and terrorising opposition defences.

“The way I look at it is, the talk has come from me playing well for Kidderminster, so I want to carry on playing well for the club first and foremost,” finished Matt.

“It’s good to have attention from others teams because the team’s playing well and if the attention keeps coming it means I am playing well too.”
