8:35pm Sunday 22nd January 2012 in Harriers
Harriers's goal-scoring hero Anthony Malbon is hoping his memorable debut strike will help him settle in at Aggborough.
Only 24-hours after signing on the dotted line for his £7,000 move from Newcastle Town, Malbon made a lasting impression when he broke the deadlock to inspired Harriers to a 2-0 win at Alfreton.
Top-scorer Jamille Matt made sure of the win with a second goal in the fifth minute of time added on, as Steve Burr's side moved back into the Blue Square Bet Premier play-offs.
The 20-year-old, who was at Port Vale before hitting the goal trail at Newcastle, admitted he's still settling in.
He said: "I am happy to score but the most important thing was to get all three points.
"I think the goal will help me settle down quicker. I am just happy to get a chance, I've come on for Port Vale and got five minutes here and there before and it's not enough time to impress and hopefully I've done that."
Meanwhile, assistant manager Gary Whild was pleased to see his side win a hard fought encounter, which saw Alfreton galvanised by the first half sending off of Louis Moult for a two-footed challenge on Kyle Storer.
Harriers defended well against the home side in the second half, who did their best to take the game to the Worcestershire outfit, before Malbon and Matt struck.
"It's always difficult to play with ten men and Alfreton worked hard in the second half but we kept going and got our rewards," commented Whild.
"Alfreton is a difficult place to come but I thought we kept our discipline well and unforunately their player got sent off, but if you tackle like that you will get sent off."
