Burr laments lack of cutting edge

Harriers boss Steve Burr was left ruing his side's lack of cutting edge after yesterday's 2-1 loss at Stockport County.

The Aggborough outfit were not at their best and goals for Sean McConville and Daniel L Rowe saw them off.

Nick Wright's deflected strike gave them hope of a late fight back but despite all their possession, Harriers did not create many clear cut chances.

The best two fell to midfielder Lee Hendrie, who was denied by the keeper Ian Ormson in the first minute and then shot over in the 84th.

"I thought we did partcularly well, in the end we just didn't finish moves off," commented a philosophical Harriers manager.

"We've had numerous chances, I thought we started really brightly.

"I don't like to be disrespectful to Stockport because they won the game, but in the first half they had one shot and scored.

"We kept going, played some great football in and around the box, but we didn't have the finishing."

Once again, Harriers were forced to chase the game after going a goal down and Burr admitted his promotion-chasing side can't keep doing that.

He added: "We can't leave things until late to get something out of the game and that comes with putting your chances away.

"I think in the first minute of the game we've had a great chance to go in front and in the second we kept pushing to get something out of it but in the end we ran out of time."

Meanwhile, Harriers are awaiting news of defender Tom Sharpe with a twisted knee at Stockport.

Burr said: "By the look of it, there was nothing in the challenge, he just caught his studs in the pitch and his boots went one way and his knee the other.

"He's in hospital and we'll just have to assess how he is but he hasn't had much luck the lad."

Despite defeat, Harriers remain fifth in the Blue Square Bet Premier after Gateshead's 3-2 home loss to Newport County.
