Davies delight at Harriers shirt deal

LOCAL businessman John Davies believes the timing was right after Hire-It! agreed to be Kidderminster Harriers’ main shirt sponsors.

The firm will replace OGL Computer on the front of the shirt until the end of the 2013-14 season after a five figure deal was secured.

This is the second time the tool hire firm, based on Worcester Road, has sponsored the club after previously being emblazoned between 2004 and 2008.

The two-year contract is for less than OGL’s previous tenure, which was for the front and back of the shirt, but further strengthens links between Davies and the club.

Hire-It! already sponsor one of the stands at Aggborough and Davies also represents fans trust KHIST (Kidderminster Harriers Independent Supporters Trust) as director on the club’s board.

Harriers are also looking for sponsors for the back of the kit in a further bid to increase revenue.

“I am delighted to be sponsoring Harriers’ shirt once again, there is a great mood around the club,” said the businessman.

“You still see shirts in the town from when we last sponsored the club and there’s no doubt this deal will also help promote Hire-It! too.

“The club is also looking for someone to sponsor the back of the shirt and I would love to work with another company.”

In a further sign of his support, the businessman will also donate £2 to the club for every shirt sold.

Meanwhile, James Vincent, Anthony Malbon and Marvin Johnson have been called up by England C for the International Challenge Trophy Group A clash in Russia, which will be played at the Khimy Arena in Moscow on Tuesday, June 5.

Malbon saw his wonder strike at Braintree named Harriers’ goal-of-the-season.

A January signing from Newcastle Town, the 21-year-old scored 40 goals, eight of those for Harriers.
