Kidderminster Harriers have been linked with a move for Guyanan attacker Ricky Shakes, by Ebbsfleet United manager Liam Daish.

Daish revealed the 27-year-old looks set to sign for the Aggborough outfit and become their third new addition of the summer.

The pacy wideman has spent four years with the Kent club but the offer of full-time football at Harriers could be too much to resist.

Daish said: “I am resigned to losing Ricky Shakes to Kidderminster Harriers.

“After a meeting with Ricky last week it was clear that the offer of full-time football at Kidderminster and a new challenge really was behind his thinking.”

No one from Harriers was available to comment on the mooted arrival of the forward.

Meanwhile, experienced striker Steve Guinan has set his sights on scoring more goals in the Blue Square Bet Premier, after revealing he’s close to re-signing for Kidderminster Harriers.

The out of contract 36-year-old hitman has had several conversations with manager Steve Burr and confirmed both parties are keen to link-up again for the 2012-13 campaign in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Guinan’s return would add some much-needed know-how and be a useful old head to compliment the Aggborough outfit’s youthful strike trio of Jamille Matt, Anthony Malbon and Ryan Rowe.

The former Cheltenham hitman is keen to play another season as a professional but is well aware he has to juggle his responsibilities as Senior Academy Manager at Hartpury College with Harriers.

He said: “I know Steve [Burr] has made it public he wants me to return and I have would like to play for Harriers again.

“We’ve had a couple of chats and we’re nearly there, I just think it will take another one and everything will be sorted.

“Obviously, I have to balance playing and my responsibilities at Hartpury, which is a full-time role but I am keen to return.”
