- Kick off: 3:00pm Mon 31 Aug 09
- Venue: The Lamb Ground
- Final score:
- Tamworth FC 2 - 1 Kidderminster Harriers
93:00: Final whistle It's over! Harriers didn't manage to find a late leveller. They paid the price for indecisive defending early in the second half.
92:00: Matthew Barnes-Homer makes a raid down the right wing and sends a low cross to Chris McPhee. As Harrier' captain turns to shoot he's tackled by Chris Smith.
90:00: Harriers have three minutes of injury time to get something from this game!
88:00: Harriers are applying some pressure. Dean Bennett sends a ball but the flag goes up for offside.
87:00: Substitution Harriers are really going all for it! Kyle Hadley comes on for Gavin Caines.
86:00: Alex Rodman sees a shot deflected wide for a corner.
84:00: Substitution Aaron Farrell comes on for John Finnigan.
82:00: Substitution Stuart Nicholson comes on for Nick Wright.
80:00: Double save by Dean Coleman. From Neil MacKenzie's corner, Michael Briscoe fires in a close range shot that the shot-stopper blocks. Jake Sheridan follows-up but Coleman is equal to it. Inspirational stuff by the keeper!
78:00: Mark Yates has striker Aaron Farrell warming up. Chris McPhee controls Matthew Barnes-Homer's head in the box but he's well blocked by Michael Briscoe.
75:00: From a Tamworth corner, Michael Briscoe heads wide.
73:00: Goal! Chris McPhee slots it to the right of Danny Alcock, who dived the wrong way. Game on for Harriers!
72:00: Chris Smith handled Darryl Knight's corner and the referee did not hesitate to blow for a spot-kick.
72:00: Harriers penalty!
71:00: Unfortunately, a Harriers player heads it behind.
70:00: Danny Alcock flaps at the set piece and Brian Smikle hits his shot into the ground. Tom Shaw heads the ball behind for another corner.
70:00: John Finnigan's deflected shot earns a corner...
64:00: More dodgy defending from Harriers. The back for backed off collectively after a string of passes and Rodman rifled a low shot past Coleman.
63:00: Goal! Alex Rodman scores!
60:00: There's a chance for Matthew Barnes-Homer but he shoots tamely at Tamworth's keeper.
59:00: Substitution Darryl Knights replaces David McDermott, who has been a bit of a passenger in this game.
58:00: Nick Wright speeds past Tom Sharpe goalwards but is blocked by Dean Coleman, who has rushed out of his box. There's a suggestion that the keeper handled the ball out of his area but the Tamworth striker stops to have a moan rather than shoot. Luckily he's a but wide and angles a cross/shot over the bar.
56:00: Darryl Knights looks as though he's about to come on.
53:00: That was close for Harriers! Dean Courtney swings in a cross from the right that Danny Alcock misses. Brian Smikle steals in a the far post but angles his volley wide.
49:00: Nick Wright almost scores again, when Nick Wright slaloms into the right side of the box but his shot is blocked by Dean Coleman.
47:00: That was too easy for the hosts. Harriers were asleep at a free-kick and the forward evades a challenge and slots the bapp past Dean Coleman at his left hand post. What can Harriers do to recover?
47:00: Goal! Nick Wright scores for Tamworth!
46:00: Harriers need to recover from that dodgy spell and find some prescence in midfield. Luckily at 0-0 there's all to play for.
45:00: Half time Plus one: Harriers go into the break on level terms. After a bright first 15 minutes they have been forced back by the hosts.
45:00: Harriers are opened up too easily. Tom Sharpe blocks a shot from Richard Tait, before Gavin Caines is on hand to block Tom Shaw's follow-up.
43:00: Matthew Barnes-Homer speeds past Chris Smith but his cross is too long for David McDermott.
39:00: Another let off for Harriers. This time Nick Wright wastes a good chance when he tries to back heel Alex Rodman's low cross from the right. that move was all started by Neil MacKenzie's astute aerial pass down the flank.
33:00: Tom Sharpe does well to back track and win the ball off Nick Wright after he poor back header allowed the hitman to run in on goal. Harriers look a little nervey all of a sudden.
30:00: Lucky! Tamworth are denied a goal when Alex Rodman is adjudged off side.
29:00: Dean Coleman rises well to tips over a shot from Neil MacKenzie. It was a move started by Michael Blackwood.
27:00: Like the wind here, the game is flowing in the favour of both sides here. Both have looked dangerous and lively.
23:00: Lee Baker concedes a free-kick on the rigtht wing with a tackle from behind on Alex Rodman. Tom Shaw's set piece is too long and goes out of play.
19:00: Lee Baker blocks a shot from Des Lyttle It was a flowing counter-attack, with Jake Sheridan sweeping the ball to Alex Rodman on the right, who found his team-mate with a fine pass.
17:00: Richard Tait fires a 30-yard thunderbolt just wide of Dean Coleman's right post. The shot came after Alex Rodman evaded a clumsy challenge from Gavin Caines and had held off the tenacious John Finnigan.
15:00: Harriers are having a lot of joy down their right wing and have identified Tamworth left-back Michael Blackwood as a possible weak link.
14:00: Harriers are certainly starting to edge the game's opening stages. It's promising but a goal is essential.
13:00: Good pressure goes to waste for Harriers when Lee Baker's cross from the left is too long for everyone in the box.
11:00: Matthew Barnes-Homer heads wide! It was good play by the visitors, with Brian Smikle chasing a long ball down, slipping it to Chris McPhee. He sent in a decent cross from the right that was a bit too high for the striker.
10:00: ...which is played short to Lee Baker. He tries a firm low shot that hits the wall.
9:00: Chris McPhee is fouled by Chris Smith as he tries to reach a high pass. Harriers have a free-kick in a decent position...
8:00: Matthew Barnes-Homer tries to latch onto Chris McPhee's flick in the box and it takes a decent sliding challenge from Chris Smith to get it away from the hitman.
7:00: As expected in a derby it has been a competitive start to the game. Nothing really in it at the moment.
5:00: Tamworth win a corner and Tom Shaw sends in a decent ball. Chris McPhee heads it away and after some head tennis the ball goes behind for a goal-kick.
3:00: Neil MacKenzie delivers a dangerous cross from the right that just dips pver the cross bar.
1:00: David McDermott wins a corner off Michael Blackwood. The midfielder sends it in and Brian Smikle hits that volley which rebounds back to him but he heads the follow-up wide.
0:00: Once again, Harriers' away fans are in good voice. They've come out in force for this derby clash and look up for it.
0:00: I must say, there's a good atmosphere as the players walk out. The home crowd are vociferous to say the least, makes a contrast from Aggborough at times this season, where the fans have a habit of going into their shell.
0:00: The mascot is galivanting around the centre circle like, well, a lamb. One that looks as though he had too much sheep dip, mind you.
0:00: The Tamworth mascot, a bloke in a lamb costume, is tumbling around in an effort to entertain the crowds - it's not working mate.
0:00: Lambs gaffer Gary Mills (is he a shepherd perhaps?) is on the bench for the home side. With Bradley Pritchard suspended, Des Lyttle comes into the side. In front of goalkeeper Danny Alcock is the back four of Michael Blackwood (LB), Chris Smith (BB, Michael Briscoe (CB) and Lyttle (RB). In central midfield, they have Tom Shaw and former Harrier Neil MacKenzie. On the left is Jake Sheridan, while Richard Tait is on the right. Up front, Tamworth have Alex Rodman and Nick Wright.
0:00: Manager Mark Yates has been forced to make two changes to the side that beat Altrincham. Young defender Tom Sharpe is handed his first league start after a composed performance as a substitute on Saturday. He steps into the shoes of defender Martin Riley, who is serving a one-match suspension. David McDermott returns to the starting line-up as a replacement for Kyle Hadley, who picked up a knock in Saturday's win. Hadley is dropped to the bench. With Robbie Matthews still not fit enough for the bench, Matthew Barnes-Homer passed fitness test and starts up front as a loan striker. On a bright note Aaron Farrell is back on the bench for Harriers after missing the start of the season with injury.
