PREVIEW: Harriers v AFC Telford
2:21pm Tuesday 29th January 2013 in News
Assistant boss Gary Whild hailed new addition Danny Jackman.
NEW signing Danny Jackman looks set to make his debut as Harriers tackle relegation-battling AFC Telford at home tonight.
Jackman’s arrival on an 18-month deal eases a slew of injuries in the centre of the pitch, with Callum Gittings, Keith Briggs and James Vincent all carrying knocks.
Steve Burr’s side will also be keen to pick up three points after losing to Macclesfield 1-0 last week and seeing their home clash against Woking postponed because of a frozen pitch.
Assistant manager Gary Whild believes the experienced Jackman, who played over 300 times in the Football League, is the perfect addition to bolster the squad.
Jackman joined Harriers yesterday after being released by Gillingham.
“He’s got an impressive record in the league and he did well at Gillingham last season and is probably unlucky not to have been involved this season,” commented Whild.
“He has got a fantastic left foot and a good range of passing and he knows the game well.
“He is an experienced lad and we’re hoping he can come in here and help some of our younger lads and push us on.
“We’ve got one or two lads struggling on and off with injuries and at times you forget with a lot of these players that they are still fairly new at this level.
“We always get the best out of them but it is a big ask to keep raising the bar and hopefully the likes of Danny coming in, with that bit of experience, will help them as well.”
While the Reds are flying high, Telford are fourth from bottom after an awful run of 15 games without a win in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
Bucks boss Andy Sinton has drafted in striker Richard Peniket on-loan from Premier League Fulham in order to try and stop the rot. The Stourbridge-born striker had a spell at Harriers earlier in the season.
