Whild - Striker is our main focus

GARY Whild admits the search goes onto find a striker as the transfer deadline closes in.

Harriers are determined to find a replacement for Jamille Matt but with the window shutting at 11pm tonight time is running out Money is not the problem as the Aggborough outfit have the funds from Matt's transfer to Fleetwood.

However, manager Steve Burr and assistant Whild will not pay over the odds for a hitman.

They are also concerned about bringing in a character who would not disrupt the squad's tight-knit unity.

Harriers have been linked with York City hitman Jamie Reed this week but Whild said the striker is just one of a number of targets the management team have in their sights.

"We've been linked with several players and there's been speculation about Jamie but at the moment that's all it is.

"It happens in the Premier League and all the way down to our level and at this stage that there is always talk about players.

"We want to bring in a striker, that's our main focus at the moment but it's not that simple.

"We want someone who will fit into the squad and is obviously has ability.

"But everybody is after those sort of players as well, so it's not straightforward."
