Harriers' Gateshead clash moved to York
2:15pm Wednesday 27th February 2013 in News
HARRIERS' Blue Square Bet Premier clash at Gateshead next Tuesday has been moved to York City's ground.
With Gateshead struggling to play matches at their International Stadium home over the last few months because of concerns over the pitch, the Heed have been forced to play games at their neighbours.
They had struck up a deal to play some of their matches at Hartlepool but the Football League side face Colchester next Tuesday.
As a result, Gateshead fans must now make an 160 mile round trip to Bootham Crescent.
"We are extremely grateful to York City for offering to stage our game against Kidderminster on Tuesday, as with Hartlepool United it is a great gesture," said Gateshead chairman Graham Wood.
"Obviously York is further away from Tyneside but it is the closest ground we could get that satisfied Blue Square Bet Premier standard.
"Like Hartlepool Bootham Crescent is a well appointed football stadium with a good playing surface and hopefully some York fans will also come along to the game."
