Kidderminster’s seven-match winning streak came to an end at Gateshead on Tuesday, the 2-0 defeat sending Steve Burr’s men out to 8/1 with bet365 for the Blue Square Premier title and indeed if Harriers are to realise their promotion ambitions they could really do with bouncing back immediately given that they head to fellow high-flyers Grimsby, some bookies’ favourites to ultimately clinch top spot.
The Mariners, aided by home advantage, are 5/4 chances at Coral to secure all three points at Blundell Park, where Kidderminster are BetVictor’s 5/2 outsiders and Stan James post odds of 12/5 against the contest finishing all square.
That was the result in the reverse fixture at Aggborough and as the teams are separated by just one point in the table, some punters might fancy BetVictor’s 21/2 for the pair to again play out a goalless stalemate.
Alternatively, bet365 quote odds of 9/2 for scores to be level at the end of each half while for travelling supporters, Burr’s troops are an 8/5 chance in BetVictor’s ‘Draw No Bet’ market and are also handed a goal start in Stan James’ handicaps, where Harriers are priced at 4/6.
Kidderminster fans however, will be encouraged by their side’s FA Cup victory at the same ground back in October and those expecting lightning to strike twice can tackle Paddy Power’s ambitious-looking 100/1 for Burr’s charges to again register a 4-2 triumph.
More realistic of course, is a win by a one-goal margin at 4/1 courtesy of Skybet and with that in mind, Ladbrokes 10/1 for a 2-1 away success isn’t without appeal.
Elsewhere, Stan James mark 5/6 against both teams finding the net, William Hill go 11/8 about Harriers being the first team on the scoresheet and it’s 15/2 (bet365) for Anthony Malbon to break the deadlock.
