PREVIEW: Alfreton v Harriers
3:19pm Tuesday 13th August 2013 in News
JOSH Gowling has given Harriers a lift ahead of tonight's Skrill Premier clash at Alfreton by overcoming his injured nose.
Kidderminster's defensive lynchpin suffered a suspected broken nose in Saturday's 3-1 win over Gateshead but is expected to play in Derbyshire.
Harriers boss Steve Burr also expects Alfreton to pose a few tough questions at the Impact Arena.
Nicky Law has strengthened an already talented squad with the likes of former Harriers men Tom Shaw and Jon McGrath among others in the close season and on Monday they boosted their forward ranks with the addition of ex-Portsmouth man Jon Akinde.
“It’s a very hard place to go and we have been quite fortunate in coming away from there with positive results but we know how difficult going anywhere this season will be," commented the manager.
“Looking at it again I think it will be quite a tight league. The likes of Chris Westwood going in there – we know they’ll be a threat.
“But I believe that if we hit the heights and the form we did on Saturday then we’ll be a match for anybody.”
While Harriers enjoyed their win over Gateshead at the weekend, Alfreton were downed 1-0 at Dartford in their season opener and so will be keen to get off the mark in their first home game of the term.
Fans unable to make the trip to Alfreton can follow all the action from tonight's 7.45pm kick-off with The Shuttle's live match blog.
Peter McKinney will be on hand from 7pm with all the team news before the match and then all the goals, action and final score.
