ANDY Thorn wants Kidderminster Harriers to kick-start their play-off push when they welcome title-challengers Cambridge United tonight.

The Aggborough outfit will be looking to lay down a marker against Richard Money’s men, which are second in the Skrill Premier.

Harriers are also keen to take their first points off a top five side this season in tonight’s clash, which is televised on BT Sport (7.45pm ko).

Thorn said: “It’s always a big game when you’ve got one of the title-chasers paying a visit and we’re all looking forward to it.

“Since I arrived there hasn’t been time to really work with the players about what we want in an attacking sense.

“I feel we’ve tightened things up at the back but I have had a few days to work with the lads and they are taking it all on board.”

The manager was said there were one or two players carrying knocks who would be assessed before the match.

Harriers were set to hold a pitch inspection at 11am this morning after heavy rain over the last few days.

The Aggborough playing surface has felt the effects of one the wettest January in recorded history.

Groundshare rivals Worcester City saw their game against Stockport postponed on Saturday because of the wet weather.

Chairman Mark Serrell has confirmed some of the money from the club’s FA Cup run will be used to add much-needed drainage to the pitch.

The club have also bought a £12,000 lawn mower to help groundsman Tom Allcut prepare the surface.

Meanwhile, Harriers had a fairly busy end to the January transfer window last Friday.

The club signed Hereford United midfielder Josh O’Keefe on an 18 month deal.

He moved to Aggborough for no fee but the cash-strapped Bulls could receive some payments if certain criteria are met.

O’Keefe was Thorn’s fourth signing since joining the club.

Adrian Cieslewicz, Freddie Ladapo and Santiago Aloi also came on board during last month.

Meanwhile, Harriers also released midfielders Lee Fowler, Dior Angus and James Dance by mutual consent.

Fowler was heralded as one of the club’s biggest summer signings last year and joined on a two-year deal.

He made 30 appearances in all competitions but had not featured since the defeat to Dartford.

Meanwhile, centre back Jamie Grimes has seen his loan at Worcester extended.
