ANDY Thorn and assistant Craig Knight have left Harriers with immediate effect.

Harriers' board decided to act after Saturday's 5-1 defeat to Cambridge United.

Thorn replaced the popular Steve Burr at the start of January and despite guiding the club to the FA Cup Fourth Round a  clash against Premier League Sunderland, he has endured a difficult period in the Skrill Premier with two wins, two draws and four defeats.

A statement from Harriers said: "The club’s Board of Directors would like to place on record their thanks to Andy and Craig for their efforts whilst in charge at Aggborough.

The club feels that by making a change now, the team will have a better opportunity to not only finish the current season strongly but, equally as importantly, will also be able to carry momentum forward into the start of a new season – whichever division that may be in."

Harriers are also hoping to make an announcement about his replacement this afternoon.

Steve Guinan remains a coach whild Burr's former number two Gary Whild is also on the club's pay role.
