GARY Whild has been named Harriers' manager until the end of the season.

The former Redditch United boss, who was still a paid employee of Kidderminster following Steve Burr's sacking in January, played a big part in building the current squad.

He becomes the Aggboroough outfit's third manager of the season after replacing Andy Thorn.

Whild, who is contracted until the club until 2016, has been an integral part of the club’s progress since first taking up post as assistant boss in 2010 when he linked up with former manager Steve Burr.

He is responsible for recruiting a large number of the club’s strongest previous and current talent, finding the likes of Jamille Matt, Joe Lolley and many others.

He takes the reins for Harriers' trip to Wrexham on Saturday (3pm ko).

Chairman Ken Rae said: “Gary's record here, working with Steve, is very strong and I know how hard he has worked to bring players here who’ve been extremely successful.

“We have agreed to take things until the end of the season and to then look at the situation again but I am confident that Gary and his backroom staff can help bring some confidence back into the team and give supporters a lift.

“With 13 games left and in the position we’re in our aim is still to get ourselves into the play-offs and I would urge every Kidderminster Harriers supporter in and around the town to come and support Gary and the players in achieving that.

“There is a big game to be played at Wrexham on Saturday but I’d love to see a big crowd here at Aggborough against Macclesfield next Tuesday.”
