GARY Whild felt his side showed character to come from behind and earn a point against Southport but also rued missed chances.

Jack Byrne had cancelled out a goal for the Sandgrounders' Danny Hattersley  in the 77th minute to secure a 1-1 draw.

Michael Gash nearly won the game for Kidderminster in the 81st minute but his header crashed off the post.

The Reds had plenty of the ball but despite a lot of pressure failed to create many clear cut chances.

"I was frustrated rather than disappointed," commented Kidderminster's manager.

"I think overall, especially in the second half, we did enough to score two or three goals.

"We went behind to a sloppy goal and then showed a bit of character because we haven't been in that situation since I came back in.

"We created a few more chances which on another day we may have taken but it was important not to get beaten."

Whild is unbeaten in five games with nine points out of a possible 15 but they did slip to eighth in the Skrill Premier, a point off the play-off places.

There are seven teams outside the top five who still harbour hopes of promotion, with the race set to go to the wire.

"Every little point you can get from a game is important," added Whild.

"We are disappointed because we want to win our home games but unfortunately it didn't drop for us."

Harriers return to action next Saturday at fellow promotion contenders Salisbury.
