JOHN Davies has surprised fans by deciding not to leave Harriers' board of directors.

Davies, who owns Hire-It, claimed he would step down in sympathy with former chairman Mark Serrell, who said he had been forced out by fan abuse.

The businessman also went onto reveal some of the reasons why popular former manager Steve Burr was removed.

However, the lifelong Harriers fans revealed the board persuaded him to stay on.

He said: “I had my personal reasons for wanting to leave the board concerning some things fans have written on social media.

"Now it's fair to say we're all going together in the right direction.

“But to be fair, the board didn’t want me to leave and I never filled in the paper work, so I decided to stay on.

"I always said that I would not walk away from Harriers.

“If fans have an issue with the club, they can contact the board directly.”

Hire-It have signed a deal to continue their sponsorship of the East Stand at Aggborough, worth £20,000 for over the next three years.

Davies is also in talks over extending the firm's shirt sponsorship, with the current deal coming to an end this summer.
