HARRIERS boss Gary Whild believes the unpredictable nature of this season's Skrill Premier play-off chase will result in a lower points tally needed to finish in the top five.

On average teams have needed to reach near the 80 point mark to make the play-offs.

But with ten teams under leaders Luton, who have a healthy lead at the top, all battling for the end of season play-offs, Whild is sure it will be less than that.

With eight games left, Kidderminster are on 59 points but while Cambridge, Alfreton, Gateshead and Braintree occupy the play-off spots, the likes of Grimsby, Barnet, Halifax, Forest Green and Nuneaton are in the same pack as Kidderminster chasing their Football League dream.

He said: "There are so many teams chasing the play-offs this season it is going to be very tight.

"They are playing each other almost every week, so any side that can string a two or three results together will really move up the table.

"Normally you have to get near 80 points to make play-offs but this time I think it will take a lot less because of how things are.

"We're unbeaten in five matches and would have liked to have defeated Southport."

Harriers will be aiming to bounce back from back-to-back draws against Aldershot and Southport at Salisbury tomorrow (3pm ko).

While City boast a fine home record, with just three defeats all season at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium in the Conference, they have not won for six games.

Salisbury also saw their eight-game unbeaten run in Wiltshire ended on Wednesday night, when they were shot down 3-0 by FA Trophy winners Cambridge.

Harriers' record at the Whites is solid with one draw, win and loss. Michael Blackwood sealed their only win there in the 2007-08 season.

Captain Kyle Storer is set to return after a four game absence because of suspension and injury, while defender Chey Dunkley continues to recover quickly from his knee surgery.

"Kyle's fully recovered from his injury, we wanted to make sure he was okay instead of risk losing him for longer," said the manager.

"Chey's making a miraculous recovery and he's pushing to be back in the next week or so."
