GARY Whild his keen to bring former striker Lee Hughes back to Harriers.

The 38-year-old was spotted at Aggborough watching Kidderminster's 2-0 home loss to Macclesfield.

The Reds boss wants to sign an experienced goal-getter to ignite his mis-firing side after the departure of Michael Gash, Nathan Blissett and Reece Styche's loan.

Danny Wright has also been linked to the club.

Hughes is currently playing for Forest Green Rovers but has found his playing opportunities limited in recent weeks.

The one stumbling block may be money, as Harriers could not afford Hughes' reportedly hefty wages in full.

However, the hitman's presence at Aggborough suggests he is keen for an Aggborough return on loan if the clubs can work out a deal.

"We have worked our socks off to get a couple of lads in," said Whild.

"It is hard this time of year trying to get players in the window and we're looking for bargains.

"No disrespect to Forest Green because I don't like to talk about somebody else's player, but Lee he is a local lad and started his career at Harriers and he'd be keen to come back and that would be a god send."

Hughes joined the club as a youngster and made his debut against Victoria on September 5 1994 and went onto score 70 goals in 139 games in all competitions.

The self-confessed West Brom fan earned a move to West Bromwich for a fee which went up to £380,000 in 1997.

In 1994, he was sentenced for six year for causing death by dangerous driving but after serving half his time in prison, he was released and joined Oldham, where he scored 25 goals.

He has continued to score for Notts County, Port Vale and Forest Green.

Meanwhile, Whild lamented the lapses in concentration which cost his side against Macclesfield.

In a very close game, an error at the back allowed Alex Grant to score from an corner, before a wonder strike by Waide Fairhurst caught out keeper Danny Lewis.

Harriers tackle Aldershot away on Tuesday (7.45pm ko).

He said: "In a game where there was not much in it, we switched off at a set piece.

"That has changed the face of the game because there were not many chances.

"The game was a bit of a stalemate but the second goal was a good finish.

"That is where we are at the minute, we need to regroup and get ready for Aldershot on Tuesday."
