HARRIERS battled out stodgy 0-0 draw at struggling Midland rivals Nuneaton  on Saturday lunch time.

The was game televised on BT Sport but a clash hit hard by a poor quality pitch and strong winds was hardly an advert for the Football Conference.

Nuneaton, who are battling to avoid relegation, edged a turgid clash but failed to take their chances.

Harriers struggled to find their cutting edge.

Manager Gary Whild picked the same side which drew with Woking last weekend.

Boro boss Liam Daish handed a debut to Oxford's keeper Max Crocombe, The 19-year-old produced a superb reaction save in the 15th minute, denying Lee Hughes' excellent close range volley.

Danny Wright also slotted just wide moments later.

But Nuneaton were certainly holding their own in terms of possession with an industrious display.

Their best chance came in the 18th minute, when Andrew Brown fired high over the bar after good play by Adam Walker and Theo Streete.

Harriers shot-stopper Danny Lewis was called into action by James Armson.

Adam Walker should have done better in the 34th minute but directed a tame effort straight at Lewis.

Harriers midfielder Aaron Wildig went for goal from the edge of the box in the opening moments of the second half but his effort deflected off a team mate and flew over the bar.

The game continued to lack rhythm due to the unfavourable conditions but Hughes came closer top breaking the deadlock  in the 51st minute when he cut in from the left and directed his effort over the bar.

For Nuneaton, Brown curled an ambitious right-footed effort over the bar.

Harriers survived a scare in the 65th minute when Boro hit them on the break from a corner but the wasteful Walker blazed over the bar after running the length of the pitch.

Lewis came to Harriers' rescue in the 70th minute. The visitors had been unable to clear their lines on the edge of the box and Walker fired in a right-footed effort which the keeper was equal to.

The hosts continued to boss and game and George Maris rolled an effort across the face of goal and wide in the 75th minute.

In the final ten minutes, Kidderminster responded well with a spell of pressure and forced several corners and free-kicks.

But Nuneaton continued to look more likely to score and Connor Franklin's dipping long range chip was less than a foot wide.

Hughes was played into the box by substitute Keyon Reffell but the home defence, which had bee well-organised throughout, swarmed around him to deny him a shot.

In the end, a second successive draw did little to enhance their hopes of making the promotion play-offs.
