GARY Whild heaped praise on goal-scorer Danny Wright after his double sealed a much-needed win over Braintree.

The former Wrexham hitman finally broke his duck for Kidderminster in his 11th appearance.

Importantly, the win ended a nine-game run without three points and finished a sequence of four successive defeats.

Wright pounced in the eighth and 13th minutes, with Hughes sandwiching a well-taken strike inbetween.

He said: "I am really pleased for Danny, he's a good character, a hard worker and a proven goal-scorer.

"He could have easily have scored five goals since he has been here, so delighted for him.

"For a 39 year old, Lee Hughes had tremendous energy and it was a great finish for the goal."

He added: "I am delighted for the fans and everybody involved with the club because it has been tough.

"When you are winning games of football it distracts away from what is going on behind the scenes but we haven't been able to do that.

"I am delighted for everybody involved in the club, especially our supporters."

Whild handed starts to Birmingham City on-loan pair Nat Kelly and James Fry.

With Kevin Nicholson on the bench, Jared Hodgkiss deputised at left-back.

Harriers had been rocked by captain and coach Josh Gowling's decision to move to Grimsby on-loan.

Kidderminster had opened talks with the defender and there had been an offer to get involved with the youth academy.

"We were aware that there was a situation but we did everything we could do to keep him.

"I have been working hard to try and tie something up with the college, which is hard to do.

"Josh wanted to explore other opportunities, that is his prerogative.

"He is club captain, one of my staff so of course I am disappointed."
