HARRIERS lifted the Worcestershire Senior Cup for the first time in five years as they saw off Worcester City 2-1 in an entertaining final at Aggborough.

The Reds battled back from a goal down after Sean Geddes had fired City ahead with an wonderful strike.

But Kidderminster responded impressively against their Conference North Derby rivals with rookie midfielder Luke Maxwell bagging a leveller and substitute Jared Hodgkiss capping a fine performance with the winner 12 minutes from time.

Defeat was perhaps harsh on City, who groundshare at Aggborough, after they had produced lots of bright attacking football.

Harriers made a raft of changes from the side which drew 1-1 with Barnet on Saturday.

In came youngsters, Luke Maxwell, Kennedy Digie, Ahmed Obeng, Keyon Reffell and Akwasi Asante.

Keeper Jasbir Singh was also included as manager Gary Whild shuffled his pack.

Tipton Town striker Gurjit Singh was handed his squad debut on the bench.

In contrast, Worcester put out their strongest side possible and edged the first half.

Wideman Daniel Nti was causing the home defence all sorts of problems but he should have done better in the ninth minute when he shot over the bar.

For Kidderminster, Jack Byrne curled an effort wide, while Obeng smashed a first time effort from distance off target.

Nti forward was enjoying the space down the left and drew a clumsy challenge from Digie, who was having a tough time at right back.

Nti also tested Singh with a low shot, which prompted Whild to take off Digie and bring on the experienced Hodgkiss.

But Kidderminster were unlucky to have a goal ruled out in the 32nd minute.

Ahmed Obeng had threaded the ball to Keyon Reffell, who went onto score but the assistant referee had flagged offside for Asante, who was not in an active position.

Harriers youngster Maxwell was also booked after produce a host of niggly challenges.

The game came to life with two goals early in the second half.

Geddes opened the scoring for City in the 49th minute when he curled a fine effort into the back of the net.

But Kidderminster responded well and made it 1-1 five minutes later. Worcester failed to clear Reid's corner and after an almighty scramble, Maxwell stabbed home from close range for his first senior team strike.

That was Reid's last meaningful action as he was replaced by Danny Wright in the 64th minute.

Hodgkiss was shown a yellow card for a challenge on Geddes.

Kidderminster threw on Lee Hughes for Asante in the 73rd minute as the game started to become stretched.

Both teams scented they could bag the winner and Symons volleyed a difficult chance wide at the far post from an Ellis Deeney cross.

But it was the landlords who edged into a 2-1 lead in the 78th minute.

Obeng produced a burst of pace down the right wing and teed up the defender, who drove home a right-footed shot into the bottom corner.

Obeng and sub Danny Wrigt nearly extended Kiddy's lead but 2-1 was enough to secure some silverware.
