MANAGER Gary Whild is confident Kidderminster Harriers’ new signings will have a big impact.

The Reds boss’ patience over the close season paid off when he swooped for three new additions to bolster his youthful squad this week.

Midfielder Joe Clarke, 26, is the most high profile signing of the summer after he agreed a one-year deal.

Clarke had been a key figure for Wrexham over the last few years and helped the Welsh outfit to second place in the 2011-12 season in the Football Conference.

The Solihull-born player, who is moving back to the area, also scored against Kidderminster in the 2012-13 play-offs.

Clarke also helped the Dragons to win the FA Trophy and made more than 160 appearances for Wrexham, who he left this summer by mutual consent as new manager Garry Mills rebuilds the squad.

Versatile defender Lathaniel Rowe-Turner, 25, has also signed and returns to full-time football after a spell at Alfreton.

Able to play at centre and left back positions, he started at Leicester City but also played for Torquay United and Luton.

“I think what’s important for both lads is that they are still young and want to be at the club,” said the Harriers boss.

“Lathaniel is 25 and Joe is 26, but both of them have played a lot of games at our level and have been at clubs pushing for the top.

“They are the ideal fit for us really and, along with Jared Hodgkiss, will provide help and leadership to some of the younger lads we have in our squad.

“The budget is the budget and we are working under financial constraints, but we’ve worked very hard to bring in both of these players.

“Joe knows the situation but he was originally from Solihull and, luckily for the club, he is moving back to the region.

“He’s someone I have known for a long time and I’ve always kept in touch with him.”

Kidderminster have also drafted in young goalkeeper Alex Palmer on loan from West Bromwich Albion.

The 18-year-old is on loan until January 2 but lives in Spennells in Kidderminster.

He signed a new deal with Albion this summer and was on the bench for the senior team in their 4-1 loss at Arsenal.

Whild said: “West Bromwich rate Alex very highly and they would rather him play senior football rather than in the under-21s.

Meanwhile, the club have launched a futsal academy in partnership.

Students aged 16 to 19 will have the opportunity to study towards a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, while developing the technical skills to harness their potential on the pitch.
