Harriers suffered defeat in their first away game of the season as they were on the wrong end of a 3-2 thriller at Dover on Tuesday.

Harriers were forced in to one of the two changes they made for the game; Kelvin Langmead wasn't passed fit after sustaining a heel injury against Grimsby and was replaced in the eleven by Jake Green, while West Bromwich Albion youngster Tahvon Campbell replaced his Hawthorns team mate, Andre Wright, who dropped to the bench.

Ricky Miller's shot inside the first ten minutes saw Harriers man Dean Snedker make the first save of the night as he comfortably held the striker's effort, Nick Deverdicks' volley flying over the bar soon after, struck from some distance.

The visitors tried to test the home goalkeeper Mitch Walker, but a tame effort from Campbell and a drive over the bar from Joe Clarke never really registered, Reece Styche also failing to connect to an Adam Dawson cross after with eight minutes to go until the re-start.

The first goal of the night came for the hosts and it arrived with their very first corner of the night; a wicked Deverdicks delivery that former Harrier turned Dover captain, Jamie Grimes, leaped well to meet and nod past a crowded cluster and into the net.

Harriers then almost responded in ideal fashion on 44 minutes as, with real pace, Dawson beat his man and struck on the angle, forcing Walker to parry the effort behind with a strong pair of hands.

It would be a miss that Harriers would rue when, seconds further on, Dover netted a second as experienced hit-man Miller turned home a dangerous Ricky Modeste cross that Harriers failed to clear.

Harriers began the second half in strong spirit but lacked a real cutting edge, Dover almost able to add a third from another set-play, a corner met by the head of Sean Raggett whose effort glanced the post, Snedker grabbing the rebound.

Whild's men would soon have a goal back. Just after the hour and standing over a free-kick from 18 yards, the tricky Dawson lined it up perfectly and bent it around the wall and into the net with Walker left sprawling.

The equaliser came with 19 minutes remaining and it was another superb effort. Off the bench for his debut less than a minute previously, striker Gurjit Singh showed real composure to cut inside and steer an excellent finish deep into the bottom corner and again beyond the stretch of Walker.

His celebrations would be short-lived however -inside the final ten minutes Dover struck again as a frantic game showed few signs of settling, a sweet header from Stefan Payne looping up and beyond Snedker's finest dive and sinking the hopes of Harriers.
