GUISELEY manager Mark Bower believes Kidderminster Harriers will pose “a different test” in today’s Vanarama National League clash at Nethermoor Park (3pm).

The newly-promoted Lions suffered a 1-0 defeat at Welling in their opening match before bouncing back to win 1-0 at home to Altrincham on Tuesday night.

Bower says Harriers are a much more established force at National League level than the first two opponents Guiseley have come up again.

“The first two games are probably more what we’ve been used to in the Conference North — Kidderminster are more established in the National League,” said Bower.

“It’ll be a different test for us but one we’ll look forward to — it’s what we’re here for, to mix it with the bigger clubs.”

Rob Atkinson’s first-half header fired Mark Bower’s Guiseley side to an a historic maiden win over Altrincham - their first points of the Vanarama National League season.

Bower will again be without suspended player-assistant manager Danny Boshell. Bower said: “We definitely needed three points on Tuesday because the longer it takes to come the more the pressure builds up. It starts to play on people’s minds so to get it out of the way and put points on the board is massive for the lads and gives them great confidence.

“Teams are going to be on top of us at Guiseley. We’ve not finished below fifth in the last few season but this season we’ll do very well to finish there.

“So there are going to be more games when teams put us under pressure and we might have to spend more time doing what we did in the second-half.”

Harriers have collected one point from two matches and manager Gary Whild felt his side deserved to take a share of the spoils from Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat at Dover.

Harriers fought back from 2-0 down to 2-2 before the hosts hit a late winner.

Whild said: “It’s just unfortunate and we have to defend better.”
