REECE Styche bagged a last-gasp penalty to spare Kidderminster's blushes against ten men Torquay at Aggborough on Tuesday night.

Harriers had to battle from behind twice thanks to goals for Aman Verma and Styche, while James Hurst bagged a brace.

The away side were reduced to ten men when former Reds man Simon Heslop was shown a straight red.

But once again the home side rode their luck as they picked up a fifth draw of the season as the wait for a win in the Vanarama National League goes on.

Harriers made one change from the side which drew 1-1 Halifax on Saturday.

With Andrew Fox returning to Peterborough after his loan period came to an end, Jake Green was drafted in as left-back.

Torquay had keeper Fabian Spiess between the sticks, after the gulls had their appeal for his sending off against Welling.

Harriers started slowly against a side who were keen to throw the ball forward.

Wideman James Hurst was been given too much space down the right and he nearly opened the scoring but with just Alex Palmer to beat he hit the post from close range.

But the gifted attacker opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Calvin Dinsley was booked for a foul on Dan Butler.

Hurst curled his free-kick into the top corner to punish Palmer, who was perhaps just out of position.

Harriers improved as the half went on and created a host of chances.

Kelvin Langmead nearly made it 1-1 in the 41st minute when his powerful far post header was saved athletically by Spiess.

Styche came even closer in the 43rd. The forward raced clear in a swift counter but with just the shot-stopper to beat, his deft 25-yard chip crashed off the woodwork.

Torquay were reduced to ten men in the 49th minute when ex-Kiddy man Heslop was shown a straight red card for a cynical challenge on Styche.

Kidderminster came close to a leveller when Spiess denied Lathaniel Rowe-Turner from a Campbell corner.

But an error from the custodian allowed Kiddy to make it 1-1 in the 57th minute. A swirling delivery from Green and causes Spiess to flap and Verma headed home.

Harriers survived a scare moments later, when the unmarked Nathan Fisher headed over from close range.

Kidderminster took off Dinsley and threw on forward Andre Wright but they suffered a sucker punch as Hurst bagged a second in the 68th minute.

There was a hint of bad fortune when Louis Briscoe's effort from the edge of the box was diverted by the Jared Hodgkiss's attempted block. The ball fell to Hurst, who slotted home from close range.

The goal seemed to knock the home side's confidence and they struggled to reassert themselves on the Devon outfit.

Jamie Spencer, back from a month's loan at Worcester, was thrown on to increase Kidderminster's goal threat.

As the home side struggled the normally cool and collected Whild, now head of football operations, became more animated in the technical area as he urged his team forward.

His team's efforts were repaid in the 92nd minute when Hurst fouled Spencer at the far post as he stretched for Green's cross.

The referee blew for a penalty, which Styche stroked down the left to ensure a point.
