DAVE Hockaday dedicated Kidderminster Harriers' first win of the season to the fans but admitted there was still a lot of hard work to do.

Jordan Murphy ensured the Reds won their first win since March 28, ending a victory-less run of 24 league games.

It was the perfect response to last week's 3-0 FA Cup defeat to Stourbridge.

"That win was for the fans, after the Stourbridge debacle we needed to repair their faith," said Hockaday.

"They came in good numbers again, which is incredible.

"They stayed with us and we missed two or three great chances but the boys stuck at it and deserved to win.

"The second half was much improved. I made a couple of changes at half-time but I am so happy for everyone at Kidderminster.

"The fans have been incredible but we need to give them more.

"We sound as if we have achieved something but we need to give them more.

"That is our first win in 19 and we need a reality check."

Harriers' next game is on Tuesday, November 10 at Chester. The club have left next Saturday free in order for Hockaday to further work with his squad.

He added: "We are not playing next Saturday but they are not getting the weekend off, the boys will be working very hard.

"Although we have done well enough to win a game we need to get better. I don't want to spoil the party but we will get better, fitter and stronger.

"This ten days gives me to really work with the players and bed down my ideas because there were a number of little things I didn't like."
