BEN Whitfield hopes to get back on the goal trail as relegation-battling Harriers return to Aggborough to tackle Tranmere Rovers this afternoon (3pm ko).

Kidderminster return to their home after four away games in a row and are still in desperate need of points to somehow pull off the great escape in the Vanarama National League.

The Reds are bottom of the table, ten points from 20th spot with seven matches left.

Their survival could rest on the form of on-loan Bournemouth man Whitfield, who admits he wants to get back on the goal trail.

The gifted attacker has bagged four but has not netted in ten games, although he’s always involved in all of Kidderminster’s attacking play and is the club’s leading assist provider.

He said: “We come into games expecting to win because that’s the kind of players we have at the club.

“We need to be stronger in first halves because in the last two games we’ve fallen behind and had to battle back. If that didn’t happen we’d have won 1-0 at Woking.

“The way I look at it I should be scoring, I should be on seven or eight goals for the season.

“I am getting in good positions and hopefully I can score in the next couple of games.

“We haven’t had a home game for a number of weeks, the fans will be as good as they have been all season and hopefully we’ll get a win for them.”

Arthur Gnahoua is set to miss out with an ankle injury, while Ousmane Fane and Evan Garnett will have knocks picked up in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Woking assessed.

In a big boost, Elton Ngwatala came through his cameo in Surrey after eight games side lined by a knee problem.

Harriers face a Tranmere side who are pushing for the play-offs with just one loss in 12 games.

The Wirral outfit edged out Lincoln 3-2 on Saturday but will be without Lois Maynard, who is on international duty with St Kitts and Nevis.

Liam Ridehalgh is an injury doubt after missing the last two matches, while Adam Mekki took a knock in Friday's win over Lincoln and will be assessed before the game.
