CHIEF executive Colin Gordon has ruled out the chance of bringing back Steve Burr back to Kidderminster Harriers as manager.

The Aggborough outfit are looking for a new manager to try and bounce back from their impending relegation from the Vanarama National League.

Fans became excited by the thought of a Burr return when he left his position at Chester this week.

Burr is a living legend at the club after three successful seasons, including when they nearly won automatic promotion to the Football League in the 2012-13 campaign.

But he left the club in January 2014 in mysterious circumstances, leaving the Kiddy fans with a sense of unfinished business.

Gordon said he has whittled down his list of new manager to three but it is clear he has a top target he has been working towards.

He said: "We have been working hard on something for a long time, we know where we want to go and we are not going backwards, we are taking things forward.

"We know what we want to do and people have to trust us.

"It is easy to go back in time and remember when things were really sweet but the fact of the matter when Steve was last at the club he had a budget five times what we have now.

"He is a great guy and I love the fact he wants to play open football but the fact of the matter is we are past the time we have the wage build to attract top players to affect results.

"We have been working on things. Steve is a lovely bloke but I am not going to stop what I have been doing for the last three months to go back in time."
