THE reality of Kidderminster Harriers relegation to Vanarama National League North was highlighted this week with the release of their forthcoming fixture list.

Harriers must open their campaign with a trip to Manchester based side Curzon Ashton on August 6.

That is followed by successive home games against Brackley Town and then Chorley, while Worcester City provide the opposition over the festive period.

They also face former Football League sides Stockport County and Boston United but the list does proves a far cry from the likes of Tranmere Rovers, Torquay United, Lincoln City and Wrexham but Harriers know they will have to knuckle down in an effort to regain their Premier status.

Harriers Head of Coaching Matt Gardiner confirmed: "They'll be no easy games for us at this level starting at Curzon Ashton. Since gaining promotion they've proved a very hard team to beat at home and will prove a tough test.

"The fact I was with Worcester City last season helps because I've got some knowledge of the sides we face and can see the players they've brought in."

Harriers commence their pre-season programme this Saturday with a trip to Southern League Premier side Stratford Town.

That is followed by a string of attractive home fixtures starting with Wes t Bromwich Albion on July 16.

The Baggies precede visits from Burton Albion, Doncaster, Hereford and Birmingham City.

Gardiner confirmed: "They are all first team games and will provide us with an excellent test.

"We've been training with double sessions for the past 10 days and boss John Eustace and myself are happy with where we are at.

"We've got quite a few trialists training who we are having a look at but if anyone becomes available who we think can strengthen the side, we will of course be interest.

"I'm especially looking forward to the game with Burton Albion. I scored the only goal when Halesowen Town beat them 1-0 and their manager John Barton was sacked the following day.

"Some of the current crop of Harriers players forget the fact I used to play a bit myself."
