Returning James McQuilkin netted in fine style as Harriers got back to winning ways against Salford.

Harriers made one change to their starting line-up for this one. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was an immediate recall to the side for lively playmaker James McQuilkin after he sat out the AFC Telford defeat through suspension days prior. Ashley Carter, therefore, dropped to the bench while Rob Stambolziev missed out altogether.

It would be that man McQuilkin, so instrumental to the things Harriers have done well this season, who opened the scoring with one of the host's first attacks; a free kick from at least 25 yards was touched into his path, where he met it with a driven finish that sailed into Jay Lynch's bottom corner.

The half remained a fairly even affair - just as King almost levelled for Salford with a rising attempt soon after the goal, Ty Williams went close to a second for Harriers with a far-post effort that was also over the bar.

Salford's Nottingham and Walker tested Hornby with chances from some distance past the hour mark as they tried to find a way past the Harriers defence, only for Dieseruvwe to almost double the reds' lead up at the other end as he planted a header just over.

The sending off came just seconds into the second half as Dieseruvwe was needlessly lunged into by Grand who got his marching orders - soon after which Ngwatala went close with a driven effort that was collected low by Lynch.

Dieseruvwe's quick feet are so often his asset and, five after the hour he almost netted on the edge of the area only for Lynch to get down well and hold on to the shot.

Gnahoua and Dieseruvwe kept the chances for coming for Harriers into the final stages, Hornby ensuring the home side kept hold of the points as he kept hold of the ball in injury time to keep out a Hulme header.
