How they rated: Harriers 5, Blyth Spartans 4

Hall: A bit like the defenders in front of him, it was an up and down game from the Kidderminster stopper. Made some great saves in the second half to keep Harriers ahead and there was not much he could have done for Blyth’s first and third goals. Probably a bit disappointed to have no commanded his box better at times and was a bit shaky when the ball was at his feet. Despite conceding four he had a good game overall. 7

Williams: Improved as the game went on, but struggled against some quick Blyth wingers. Attacked better than he defended and provided the team with some good width going forward, allowing Sonupe to play inside. 6.5

Taylor: Like Williams, Taylor improved in the second half when Kidderminster were dominant going forward. Defensively could have done more and was caught out a couple of times when he tried to play himself out of trouble. 6.5

Croasdale: A quiet day for the skipper who was back in the team this afternoon. Could have done more from a defensive point-of-view to help out his new centre-back partnership, as Blyth players found it too easy to get straight down the middle of the side. Linked play well in the second half. 6.5

Horsfall: It was a difficult afternoon for the defence as a whole and especially for Horsfall who was caught on his toes a couple of times by the quick Blyth attack. Was leaving big gaps in the back line alongside new defensive partner Pearson, and the pair will need to get a run of games together to help sure up what was a leaky defence. 6

Pearson: Playing on his home debut and it was a game of two halves – literally – for new boy James. Less said about the defence in this game the better, but going forward he showed absolute dominance in the air to get two vital goals. There is good potential in this Harriers defence, but it needs work. 7.5

Sonupe: A man of the match performance from the lively winger who ran the game in the second half. A couple of dodgy crosses in the first 45, but he provided some beautiful passes and tore a tiring Blyth defence to shreds with his pace later on in the game which is how he won the penalty. 8.5

McQuilkin: Started the game really well, and was showing the Aggborough faithful what a difference the team is with him playing. Not back to full fitness yet, which is why he made way for Dan Bradley at half time, but should be happy with his showing. 7

Ironside: The striker drifted in and out of the game but showed on occasions some killer instincts, especially with his assist right at the start of the game to put Harriers ahead. Linked up play well with the rest of his forward players. 7

Ngwatala: Elton was not as dominant in midfield as Sonupe, but was one of the main attacking forced Kidderminster had. Delivered some good link-up play and put in a few good challenges to keep Harriers on the front foot. 7.5

Brown: Showed a good eye for goal and his movement was impressive. Had a couple of other chances, but again linked up well in attack. 7

Subs:

Bradley: One of the few attacking players who did not show his best today. Had two one-on-one chances which many would have expected him to take. He had good movement to create the opportunities at goal, but finishing practice is definitely needed. 5.5

Wright: A good run out for the substitute who showed very good instincts inside the box to grab his goal. Looked lively and gave Harriers a bit more pace up front. More time on the pitch and I think he could have had another goal in him. 7.5

Unused subs: Austin, Weeks, Digie.
