HARRIERS ace Brian Smikle was delighted to be offered a deal by the club for next season but admit that he is weighing up his options.

The 24-year-old has been one of Harriers' most consistent performers and has scored 13 goals this campaign.

That was enough to persuade manager Steve Burr to talk Smikle and try and nail him down for the 2010-11 campaign in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Smikle has become one of the Aggborough outfit's slow-burning success stories. He signed for the club in 2006-07 and rarely started in the line-up but has gradually became one of the first names on the team-sheet.

He emerged as a dynamic goal-scoring midfielder last season and has continued to impress this campaign.

"It's nice to know that the club want me. At the moment I haven't made my mind up and am still considering my options," commented Smikle.

As Harriers enter their final four games of a tough Conference campaign, starting with a trip to Hayes and Yeading tonight (7.45pm kick-off), Smikle is staying focused on ending the season well.

The Aggborough outfit have experienced a topsy-turvy season, seeing Mark Yates leaving for Cheltenham and Steve Burr taking the reins.

Burr guided Harriers to the FA Trophy semi-final but a 5-1 defeat to Stevenage effectively knocked the stuffing out of them at the start of March.

Smikle said: "It's been a strange season. We started the season slowly, picked up but then Mark Yates left and Steve Burr came in.

"We had a good run but we've lost some impetus after being knocked out of the FA Trophy and missing out on the play-offs.

"I've been pretty happy with my own form over the season and I've come close to my goal target of 15 goals.

"There's still time to grab some more and it's important that we play well in our last four games."

Harriers could be without on-loan Chesterfield midfielder Lloyd Kerry and Martin Riley, who have both been struck down by illness ahead of tonight's league clash at Hayes and Yeading (7.45pm kick-off).

Duane Courtney may be available after recovering from his ankle injury sustained at Altrincham.

David McDermott looks set to miss the rest of the season after damaging ankle ligaments at Barrow last week, while Marc Goodfellow is out of action with a groin injury.
