HARRIERS boss Steve Burr has warned his side they must keep focused ahead of another important match in their quest for a play-off spot, when they entertain Newport tomorrow (3pm kick-off).

The Aggborough outfit are on a high after more last-gasp heroics in Saturday's 2-1 win at Southport.

With York and Luton losing, Harriers leapt above the Sandgrounders into fifth in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

With four games left and sixth-placed Luton with two games in hand, Harriers' manager is keen to stress how important it is to bag their fifth win in six games tomorrow.

"I've had to be a bit of a party pooper because we've got a big game on Monday," said Burr after Saturday's victory.

"We haven't actually done anything yet but we're in a good position and hopefully we can get another three points on Monday."

Harriers manager was delighted with his side's hard-fought win against a direct Southport team on Merseyside.

An error by Luke Jones had allowed Alan Moogan to open the scoring, before Anthony Malbon made it 1-1 before the break.

Harriers had been the better side in the second half but needed a stroke of luck in the 91st minute to bag all three points.

Jones, who had been inspired in the second half, blocked Karl Ledsham's clearance in the box and the ball ricocheted into the back of the net to secure a win.

Burr said: "I think it shows the character of the lads that we are never beaten until the final whistle.

"We knew what to expect from Southport, we knew they would put us under pressure with long throws and long balls down the middle.

"I thought Luke Jones and Tom Marshall and the back four coped very well but that was something we worked on in the week "It was a great finish by Anthony Malbon. I thought he should have done better earlier but his finish was class and it was a great ball from Lee Vaughan.

"The winner wasn't a deflection, it was a block tackle and there was only one place for the ball to go.

"I thought it was Vinnie [James Vincent] at first but I think the goal was justified for Luke.

"He did make a mistake for their first goal and it affected him for 15 minutes where he lost his rhythm but he was outstanding for us."

Kyle Storer serves the second of his two-match suspension but otherwise, Harriers have no new injury worries going into the match.

Meanwhile, Newport are looking to make it four games unbeaten in Worcestershire.

Justin Edinburgh's side have beaten Gatheshead and York and drew with improving Telford in recent weeks.

The Welsh side are still in slight danger of being relegated and will be aiming to secure their Conference Premier place for next season.
