Harriers are now going for it but it's too late for a winner as the full-time whistle blows.
On the positive side, this was a point earned as they were losing but Harriers could have won at a canter based on chances. Southport keeper Tony McMillan produced a host of saves.
The wait goes on and Harriers are eight games into the season and still waiting for a win. They are, however, three games unbeaten.

Harriers search for a second goal and James Vincent rifles a shot just wide.

Goal! Tony Gray slots ball into bottom corner and after being in total control, Harriers are behind.
Interestingly, Nathan Vaughan was only shown a yellow instead of sent off.

GOAL! Harriers pay the price for missed chances and are dragged level. Josh Gowling, who had been brilliant, sees a poor clearance fall to Karl Ledsham and sends a 20 yard chip into back of the net. Nathan Vaughan had wanted the ball back off Gowling and was out of position when ball was delivered.

McMillan denies Johnson but it should have been 2-0. Richard Peniket's audacious first time ball releases the speedy attacker but as he sped into the box and shot, the keeper saves.

Another chance for home side. Blissett is tackled but ball falls to Danny Pilkington, who curls in a lovely shot but McMillan is equal to it!

Peniket goes so close! Manny Panther finds Lee Vaughan and he delivers a cross from the right. Peniket does well to fire in a first time shot which McMillan tips over!

Southport look a bit more determined and Josh Gowling makes a block to cut out Shaun Whalley's cross with Tony Gray lurking.

Marvin Johnson sees a free-kick from the right well saved by McMillan and the whistle blows for half-time. Harriers have been the better side by a mile and could be ahead by more.
A second goal to further calm the nerves Harriers are bound to suffer in the second half would be nice but if the game continues like this, Steve Burr's side are well on course for a much-needed first win of the season.

Mickey Demetriou slices open the away defence with a fine pass as Richard Peniket strides towards goal but Tony McMillan saves at his feet.

Well, it's been quiet in the last few minutes, neither side have gone on the attack but Harriers look comfortably.

Southport rally. After Manny Panther fails to clear the ball 20 yards out twice, Michael Bakare goes for goal and slides a shot wide.

Another chance for Harriers. Marvin Johnson delivers. Cross from the left but Danny Pilkington can't quite reach it as it loops just over him.

There's a delay as Storer (or is he now Bananaman?) limps off with a knee injury. He's replaced by Manny Panther in 23rd minute.

Goal! Harriers take a deserved lead. Richard Peniket drives to edge of the box and crosses the ball. The clearance falls to Kyle Storer, who slams a fine low shot into bottom left corner. Storer then runs to the bench to receive a banana, which he eats ceremoniously.

Harriers looking vey very comfortable here. The team are working hard and it is personified by Nathan Blissett, who is has tracked back and battled for every ball.

Harriers go so close! Marvin Johnson races in and fires a shot goal wards. Keeper Tony McMillan spills it and as Danny Pilkington follows up he rolls ball towards goal but James Smith clears.

Harriers look very solid. Chey Dunkley and Josh Gowling look a pact central defensive team. Gowling does well to hold off Tony Gray and find Nathan Vaughan with a pass.

Good afternoon Harriers fans! Welcome to our live blog for Harriers v Southport. It's a very warm sunny day and has a pre-season feel about it, apart from Harriers' need for a first win of the season.
After seven games without a win, Harriers have shown signs of improvement with two draws at Barrow and Braintree but they need to convert performances into a much-needed result.
