Burr praises dynamite Dunkley

DELIGHTED Harriers boss Steve Burr hailed defender Chey Dunkely, who bagged the important first goal in Saturday's 3-0 win over Macclesfield.

Dunkley's thumping header just before half-time stunned the Silkmen who had completely dominated the first period.

The home side had defended solidly with Dunkley and defensive partner Josh Gowling in defiant form.

Second half goals for Ryan Rowe and Marvin Johnson sealed a much-improved display.

Burr said: "I felt our first home win had been coming and in the second half we did particularly well.

"Our first goal was against the run of play without a shadow of a doubt, they were causing us a few problems and well on top for the first 25 minutes.

"On the break I felt with a bit more care in our passing we could have done a bit more damage.

"When Chey scored against the run of play you could see it knocked their confidence.

"It was a great set piece and something we had been working on on the training ground.

"We said to Chey before the game as a centre half he needed to get on the end of a few of those."

Victory ensured it was seven games unbeaten and back-to-back wins for the first time in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Burr was full of praise for Rowe, who has scored four goals in two games. The striker was taken off midway through the second half after picking up a knock.

"I am really pleased, as I said to Ryan he's got to kick on now and score goals on a regular basis," added the manager.

"He picked up a knock in last 20 minutes of the game but he did well and you could see the confidence in him."
