Looking for players: Manager Mark Yates.

HARRIERS manager Mark Yates admits he'll be working hard to bring new players into Aggborough on-loan before Thursday's deadline.

The manager is well aware that his small squad will be put under pressure with three games in five days against Crawley, Cambridge and Ebbsfleet.

Harriers are a little light in central defence after the departure of Luke Jones back to Shrewsbury Town last week and Yates has been trying to bring in extra bodies to boost the 18-man squad.

Yates said: "It has been quiet over the weekend because it's Easter but I'll be on the phone tomorrow morning with one or two things we are waiting on. We have a couple players we'd like to bring in."

The form of captain Mark Creighton will have made the manager happy. The strapping centre-half marked his 100th appearance for Harriers with a goal as they defeated Rushden and Diamonds 2-0 at Aggborough on Easter Monday in the Blue Square Premier (read report).

Victory ended a two-game losing run, made it three home league wins in a row and secured a double over Rushden.

"We're not as bad as our league position makes out," said the manager.

"When we put in a decent performance, work hard and compete for first and second balls it gives us the conviction to play some good football.

"We made a lot of chances and we could have and should have won by more goals.

"Our last three home performances have been pretty decent. We've tried to get the ball down and play.

"The pitch was a bit bobbly but we caused Rushden a lot of problems with balls into the box.

"I thought Gavin Hurren produced one of his best performances in defence for some time and many of the squad will be happy with their contribution."
