Poor travellers aiming to end bad run
Determined: Manager Mark Yates.
Determined: Manager Mark Yates.

DETERMINED Harriers manager Mark Yates has urged his side to end their away-day woes at Blue Square Premier rivals Crawley Town tonight (7.45pm kick-off).

The Aggborough side have not tasted victory on their league travels since stunning Burton Albion 2-0 in November.

The manager is confident he has seen signs that Harriers can secure only their fifth away league win of the season and end a six-match losing run on their travels, after a promising performance in Saturday's 1-0 loss to Exeter City.

"We are fully focussed on winning our last few games and ending the season well," said Yates.

"Our away form is something which needs to be sorted out, but we have played quite well away from home and we just need to turn performances into good results.

"We have a lot of games coming up in a small space of time but all the players are in good shape.

"We want to go to Crawley and get this fixture out of the way because we have Cambridge on Saturday, which will be a big test for us."

With so many fixtures building up Yates is still eager to add at least two players on-loan before today's 5pm deadline.

With only two recognised centrebacks, Mark Creighton and Gavin Hurren, Yates is looking to bring at least one defender in to ease the pressure.

Yates said: "We'd like to get a couple of new faces in before the deadline and have been working hard over the last few days. We're a little light in defence but hopefully we'll be able to strengthen the squad.

"We've made a lot of phone calls and had a few knock backs but I am hopeful to bring someone in."

Otherwise the manager has a fully-fit squad for tonight's league clash at Broadfield Stadium.

Crawley manager Steve Evans, who signed a new contract with the club, may have defender Glenn Wilson available if he has recovered from a hamstring injury.

Player/coach Paul Raynor is suspended for tonight's clash after being sent to the stands against Aldershot.

Crawley have lost their way at home in the last few games.

After losing just once at home in the league before March, Town have lost to Aldershot and Ebbsfleet, drew with Salisbury and Exeter and have only beaten Cambridge in the last five clashes.

Shuttle On-Line will have team line-ups and live match updates from 7.45pm onwards.
