Big chance: keeper Dean Coleman.

GOALKEEPER Dean Coleman has vowed to impress manager Mark Yates and win a new contract at Kidderminster Harriers.

The 22-year-old is expected to start his first Blue Square Premier game since September's win over Droylsden at Cambridge United on Saturday, after first-choice stopper Chris MacKenzie limped off injured in Thursday night's 4-0 win over Crawley Town.

MacKenzie may miss the last eight games of the season with a suspected thigh tear, which would give Coleman, who performed solidly in the second half against Crawley, a chance to prove his worth to Yates in the campaign's final eight games.

Coleman said: "I'm lucky to get my chance. It was a confidence boost to play well against Crawley and good preparation for the Cambridge game and hopefully I can build on it.

"My contract runs out in May so it's a good time for me to play a few games, although I feel sorry for Chris, who has been playing well. It's a good oppurtunity for the gaffer to see that I can do the job."

Yates may include new loan signings Jake Moult and Michael Wylde in the squad for Harriers' game at promotion-chasing Cambridge United on Saturday.

Moult, from Plymouth Argyle, is a utility player, while central defender Wylde, from Cheltenham, will take the pressure off Mark Creighton and Gavin Hurren. Both joined Harriers on Thursday afternoon until the end of the season.

Yates said: "Jake's not going to get offered a new contract at Plymouth.

"We'd asked about him a few weeks ago and we'll take a good look at him.

"Michael's a good local player from League One and it's a chance for him. We also tried to get another player in who would have been a brilliant addition to the squad but it didn't work out."

Harriers' manager may change his side for Cambridge, with Michael McGrath, Paul Bignot and Andy Ferrell all pushing for places.

Cambridge manager Jimmy Quinn will hand understudy keeper Alex McCarthy a start, because first-choice keeper Danny Potter is suspended after he was sent off against Ebbsfleet United on Monday.

Mark Albrighton, who is unavailable after picking up his tenth yellow card of the season, will be replaced by Mark Peters.

Yates was delighted to see his side end their four-month wait for an away league win by defeating Crawley 4-0 on Thursday and wants his side to build on a confidence boosting performance in Cambridge.

Thursday's win was also sweet vengeance for Harriers, after the clash was originally called off at the last minute in February.

""We got lucky when Crawley missed a good early chance," said Yates, "Apart from that we were outstanding in the first half, scored four goals and could have had more.

"We took off a few people in the second half because we have got Cambridge on Saturday and we wanted to keeper players fresh."
