Defender leaves Harriers
Released: Gavin Hurren.
Released: Gavin Hurren.

DEFENDER Gavin Hurren's three-year stay at Kidderminster Harriers has come to an end after being released by the Blue Square Premier club.

The 22-year-old former Nottingham Forest man made 101 appearances for the club over three seasons since joining in the summer of 2005.

After talks with manager Mark Yates this week, it was agreed that Hurren would have to start looking for a new club.

"I am upset to leave because I have been here three years and have made a lot of friends," said Hurren.

"I have spoken to the manager and he decided it was time for me to move on.

"I have really enjoyed my time at Harriers, I feel that I have learned a lot and matured into a better player."

The versatile midfielder and defender, who was part of Harriers' team which played in the 3-2 FA Trophy loss to Stevenage Borough at the New Wembley in May 2007, scored eight goals for the club.

"There were one or two things we had left to talk about and in the end it was decided it was best for all parties if Gavin goes to play football elsewhere," said Yates.

"I'd like to thank him for his efforts during his time with us, and we all wish him the best for his future career."
