Students putt on a show

SECONDARY school students from the area got to show off their putting skills with the first ever district competition at Wyre Forest GC.
Pupils from King Charles, Wolverley, Stourport and Bewdley schools and Baxter College played in an 18-hole stableford match on Friday.
This was the first time that pupils from the district have played a full game of golf. The players were all members of local clubs and were ranked in handicap.
The event has been organised as a follow-up to the tri-golf for younger children and the golf extreme' which was the next step up.
Wolverley PE teacher and organiser Simon Marshall said: "This was a chance to give pupils who are good at golf a chance to play.
"It's not a sport often associated with young people but this was a great opportunity to show what they are capable of."
Ben Knowles, from King Charles, won the stableford event with a score of 45, while Hagley High School topped the team rankings.
The winners were presented with prizes after the tournament.
Wyre Forest GC have offered free membership to junior player and under-18s, if they sign up for six lessons on a Saturday between10am and 11am.

Longest drive: Russell Harper (Hagley). Nearest the pin: Frazer Hall (Bewdley).
Final standings: 1 Hagley High School; 2 Stourport High School; 3 Wolverley High School.
