Thomas makes the grade
MARTIAL ARTS: A student from Kidderminster Tae Kwon Do Club proved he is reaching the heights by obtaining his black belt.
Thomas Spooner, 14, impressed a panel of seventh dan black belts at the grading to achieve the accolade.
Assistant instructor Katie Billingham said: "Tom is one of our best students and really sets an example to others by not only working hard with his own training, but also by helping others when ever he can.
"He received our student of the year award last year because of his outstanding attitude and hard work, which has now been rewarded even more in achieving his black belt."
The club is the local branch of the Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain, one of the largest martial arts associations in Europe. They are trained by Vince Farquharson, fifth dan black belt, and instructor of 15 years in Kidderminster.
