Sure-footed juniors set high standards

AHTLETICS: Competitors from Kidderminster and Stourport AC took part in the Youth Athletes League in Kettering.

Members of the club produced a number of impressive performances in the first round of the Midlands Division One East.

Grace Perry had a hat-trick of wins in the under-13s age group, tasting victory in the 1200 metres, 70m hurdles and shot putt.

Antony Bogh won the under-13s high jump and Chantelle Reah was another who gave a strong display when she won the under-17s 80m hurdles.

In the girls' under-15s age section Sarah Stuart-Smith won the 800m, while Chloe Richardson came first in the 1500m.

Results - under-17s men: Ashley Round, discus 2nd A (29.02m), Shot putt 1st A 9.96m, Javelin 2nd A 34.65m.

Under-13s boys: Antony Bogh, 100m 3rd A 14.8sec, 75m hurdles 1st A 15.3s, high jump 1st A 1.32m; Alex Surridge, 200m 2nd A 31.7s, 75m hurdles 1st B 15.4s, long jump 3rd A 3.66m; Joe Wilson, shot putt 3rd A 4.87m, long jump 2nd B 3.09m; Oliver Reah, 100m B 1st 16.4s, 200m B 1st 33.9s.

Under-17s women: Chantelle Reah, 80m hurdles 1st A 15.8s, 200m 3rd A 27.6s.

Under-15s girls: Chelsey Kaye, 100me 3rd A 14.4s, 200m 3rd A 30.4s, long jump 4th A 3.45m; Sarah Stuart-Smith, 800m 1st A 2.28.3s, shot putt 2nd A 5.47m, high jump 2nd A 1.30m; Chloe Richardson, 1500m 1st A 5min 14.9s, Javelin 4th A 9.24m, shot putt 2nd B 4.25m.

Under-13 girls: Sophia de Beor, 75m 2nd A 11.4s, 800m 2nd A 2min 42.2s, long jump 2nd B 3.29m; Annie Richardson, 75m 2nd B 11.9s, 800m 2nd B 2.44.9s, long jump 2nd A 3.70m; Grace Perry, 1200m 1st A 4min.22.4s, 70m hurdles 1st A 16.2s, shot putt 1st A 5.36s.

Martin Davies was the first member of the club to finish a new 10 kilometre run in a time of 38 minutes and 43 seconds, followed by Mark Hawkins (41-40) and Michael Francis (42-45).

Jackie Phillips was the first lady to finish in a time of 43-22, with Martin Whillmott next.

Hilary Crook, in her first 10km race, completed the course in 47-06, followed by Paul Richardson (47-25), veteran Christine Sedman-Smith (47-34), Charlotte Worton (48-27) and Mick Hudson (53-58).

Other finishers: Kate Lewis (56-19); Jackie Donkin (56-27); Janette Richardson (59-17); Theresa Wilson (59-59); Carol Dourdeen (66-43); Kathy Lee (66-49).
