THE cross-country team at a school near Kidderminster has run away with a record number of trophies this year.

Abberley Hall School have had their most successful ever season for cross country running, with pupils helping to scoop 12 trophies over the last year.

Pupils also excelled at the National Cross-Country Preparatory School Championships in Malvern, with Max Carleton-Smith, Harry Hickman and George Barrell all achieving impressive top ten finishes.

Nigel Richardson, head of sport at the preparatory school, said: "We have won a total of 12 trophies this year, which is an incredible achievement.

"We have pupils as young as seven who run races all over central England, sometimes in very unpleasant weather against hundreds of other children, so we are very proud of them all.

"This was a successful season with excellent team and individual performances."
