Swifts suffer five-goal rout

JUST when Stourport Swifts looked to have put the brakes on their slide down the table, new manager Paul Davies is facing another crisis.

The Walshes Meadow side crashed to a 5-0 defeat at home to Aylesbury United on Saturday and have now shipped 14 goals in their last three games.

There were just ten minutes on the clock when James Faulkner opened the scoring for Aylesbury with a stinging volley past keeper Steve Parker.

Alex Lavery fired wide for the home side while Adam Blake, making his debut in midfield, put a header wide of the target after Wes Joyce had flicked on a free-kick.

Nathan Graham doubled the lead midway through the half following a good run and cross from Faulkner with Kevin Mealor adding a third three minutes before the break.

Aylesbury continued to bombard the Swifts goal at the start of the second half with former Wycombe Wanderers striker Faulkner twice hitting the upright.

Stourport's best chance of the game came on the hour when a Darren Andrews cross found substitute Ryan Broadhurst but his effort was well saved by keeper Tom Vincent.

Faulkner duly despatched his second of the game, from the penalty spot after he had been pulled back, on 73 minutes with substitute Andy Shed lofting a shot over the keeper on 82 minutes to complete the rout.

There was a late chance for a Swifts consolation but Blake fired over the bar from the edge of the area.

Swifts: Parker 5, Smith 6, Robinson 5, Stamps 5 (Harris 29, 5), McCOMISKY 7, Blake 6, Colwell 6, Webb 5, Joyce 6 (Halion 62, 5), Lavery 5 (Broadhurst 46, 6), Andrews 5. Subs (not used): Upton, Frost.
