Woodwork thwarts Swifts
Barton Rovers 4
Stourport Swifts 0
When a player picks up an injury in the warm-up you just know it is going to be one of those days.
And that was the case for Swifts as they returned from Bedfordshire empty-handed despite rattling the woodwork four times.
Chris McComisky's ankle injury before the game set the tone for Stourport but it took until the 34th minute before Frazer Toms handed the home side the lead with a low shot past keeper Chris Jay, a new signing from Halesowen Town.
Craig Marshall was denied by a good save just before the break and then hit the upright at the start of the second half from an Andy Smith cross.
Richard Colwell suffered the same fate as did Adam Harris as the visitors pushed for an equaliser.
Instead, they found themselves further behind as Garry Sippetts rattled in a second on 67 minutes before Adam Cunnington made it 3-0 seven minutes from time, pouncing on the rebound after Jay had kept out a shot from substitute Stuart Maynard.
Barton completed the scoring on 86 minutes, substitute Robbie Keen running through to slot home but there was still time for Richard Lavery to see his late effort strike the post.
Swifts: Jay 6, Smith 7, Stamps 5, Harris 8, Blake 7, Upton 7 (Andrews 76), COLWELL 9, Halion 6, Broadhurst 7 (Lavery 76), Marshall 6, Webb 8. Subs (not used): Frost, Parker.
