Striker's double sinks Stourport
STOURPORT returned from Aylesbury United empty-handed after their high-flying hosts recorded a 2-0 win.
But struggling Swifts were far from outclassed and had a number of chances, twice being denied by the woodwork.
Defender Andy Smith needed to make a goalline clearance early on to clear an Aylesbury corner to safety while the first chance for the visitors came on 19 minutes when Darren Andres collected a Craig Marshall pass only for his shot to lack venom.
With seven minutes to go before the break, Richard Colwell sent a curling effort against the crossbar with Marshall pouncing on the rebound only to fire against the upright.
The breakthrough finally came two minutes into the second half, James Faulkner firing home despite Smith's efforts to block the shot.
Undeterred, Swifts would have been back on level terms midway through the half had it not been for Tom Vincent in the home goal who made a stunning save from another curling Colwell shot following good work from Adam Blake and Adam Robinson.
But any hope Stourport had of gaining something from the game ended in injury time when they were caught on the break and Faulkner broke clear for his second of the game.
Swifts: Jay 8, SMITH 9, Robinson 6, Frost 7, Wood 7, A Blake 7, Colwell 8, Webb 7, Marshall 6, Upton 7 (Lavery 83), Andrews 7 (Broadhurst 67, 6). Subs (not used): Stamps, J Blake, Harris.
